1. Stimulation of fatty acid oxidation exacerbates reperfusion injury
Branched chain amino acids (BCAA) exacerbate myocardial ischemia/reperfusion vulnerability via enhancing GCN2/ATF6/PPAR-a pathway-dependent fatty acid oxidation (FAO). Theranostics, 2024.
Synopsis: Chronic accumulation of BCAA increases FAO in myocardial tissues and sensitizes the heart to I/R injury, which could be reversed by PPAR-α silencing.
